The bottom line is that if you’re trying to make a living with your art, you’re already in the game. You don’t get to opt out of capitalism just because it’s stupid. And you can’t burn it all down by sheer force of will (I tried).

You can figure out how to place yourself inside the system in a way that feels right—for you. That’s what being a Hapitalist is really about at its core.

The problem is that writers expect logic, but capitalism is nonsense. They expect 1 + 1 = 2, when really it's 🥔 + 🐿️ = 2. It doesn't make sense, but it is consistent.

🥔 + 🐿️ will always equal 2. Once you can read those patterns, you can make decisions that are aligned with where you stand and what you're comfortable doing at any moment in time, and keep coming back to this practice as your needs shift.
