Sooner than later scammers and “screw-abouts” will realize there is no money in publishing and stop trying to make a quick buck, since there are no quick bucks to be made here.

Even the quickest buck, even the easiest buck, is agonizing.

There is no way scammers have the stamina to sit at a book signing or convention to make a few coins when they could hustle somebody out of their life savings just as easily.

There is no way they are willing to apply to jobs that come back bidding low or tell you to do it "for exposure".

There is just no way they care enough about this work to do this work when the chips are down and the bank account is teetering on zero.

Cuz if they did, they would pick up a pencil or typewriter and make something themselves.

They would learn. They would improve. They would write stories in whatever way they could. They would make bad stories and good stories.

They would take pride in the messiness of it all, talk about their battle scars with their friends, and buy them a …
