Sometimes you have to delete 15,000 people from your email list. I know that's not really a saying, nor should it be. It doesn't really roll off the tongue, you know?
Still, that doesn't make it any less true. Sometimes, you have to delete loads of people from your email list. Through the first 11 months of 2018, I deleted 24691 emails off my email list. In December 2018, I added 15,000 to that number, by far my biggest single cut yet.
By the end of it, I cut 40,396 off my email list. Most people would be over the moon with 40,396 people on their list. It's hard to even fathom 40,000+ people. To give you a sense of context, Fenway Park only holds 37,402. Most shows I go to have around 40,000-50,000 people in attendance. So, this year alone I cut more people from my list in 2018 than Fenway Park holds at capacity.
That's so many people. I remember reading similar posts from people and thinking they were arrogant, pretentious jerks for cutting tens of thousands off their list.
