Love it. Think this needs to be your next workbook, Russell. The Author's Guide to Reality Distortion... or something better than that!

I have been trying to figure out how to make a “magic book for authors” that is really just business advice. But more fun.

Well, you nailed it. Good job harnessing that ambition! Now ride it to the stars, my dude :)

Most people don’t change. Not until they’re forced to change. 100% agree.

I'm going to add this to the list of signs pointing to narrowing my focus. Too many shots in too many directions are leading me to let things slip. I've already had to push back some deadlines because of it.

Thanks for the reminder to reevaluate which plates I should keep spinning and which I can set aside for now.

(Looking forward to the book!)

It’s a really common problem, obvi, since I wrote about it, but most people are even seeing the thing they focused on too broadly, and usually if you pick one axis you have more ability to influence it.

Sometimes I'm scared to publish/write/create because of the fear of failure or fear of not being good enough. I have ambition, but haven't done enough of the first part of being really good at one thing first before doing it. I have ADHD processes, too many things, not hyperfocusing on one, and then getting distracted constantly.

I know how to cast that spell, as I have done it in other areas of my life from time to time. In those areas of life I refuse to go back to the past because it is no longer my paradigm. But consistantly stepping forward is really tough. If only doing it was as easy as reading your post.

Magic is very very hard, and we often have physical, mental, and emotional blocks in concert with each other, and never in the same measure. Just because you are great at plant magic doesn’t mean you are great at friend magic, you know?

I so need to be able to do this, but my focus is split all over the place. Aaarrgghh!

Great post, thank you.

Confession: I'm on the verge of a spell casting. I can feel it. But I find myself stopping to ask permission. I've distorted reality in my favor before and never asked permission first. I don't know why I've added the impediment. I'm hoping confession exorcises this demon.

Thanks for reminding us of our potential.
